Overview

The Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Postdoctoral Fellowships are the EU's flagship individual postdoctoral grants under Horizon Europe, funding excellent researchers to carry out international, inter-sectoral and interdisciplinary mobility at a host organisation in Europe (or, for Global Fellowships, an outgoing phase worldwide plus a mandatory return year in Europe). The 2027 call (HORIZON-MSCA-2027-PF-01) is officially announced on the European Commission's MSCA page with an indicative opening of 7 April 2027 and an indicative deadline of 8 September 2027 (both TBC).

Why it is notable: The application is made jointly by the researcher and the host organisation on the EU Funding & Tenders Portal — but the host institution, not the researcher, is the formal beneficiary that submits the proposal. The 2026 call is closed, so the only live route is the 2027 call with TBC dates; preparation (finding a host and drafting the 10-page Part B) should start months before the April 2027 opening.
