Overview

The Chalmers IPOET Scholarships, funded by the Swedish Council for Higher Education and awarded by Chalmers, cut tuition fees by 75% for outstanding fee-paying international students across all of Chalmers' Master's programmes. Top performers in year one can see their reduction increased in year two. You apply first for the Master's programme on universityadmissions.se, then complete the separate scholarship application using your application number.

Why it is notable: One of the most generous Swedish university awards in percentage terms — 75% off tuition for everyone selected, rising further for top first-year performers — open to every Master's programme at Chalmers.
Funding at a glance

What it covers

  • 75% reduction of the tuition fee for the full 4-semester / 2-year Master's programme (reduction applied to the fee; no funds transferred to the laureate)
  • Increased reduction for particularly excellent students after year one (high CGPA at the 60-credit conventional pace): 85% level for year two, appearing on the 4th-semester bill at 95% (official regulations)
  • Retention requirement: pass at least 75% (conventionally 45 credits) of first-year courses, LADOK-registered by 1 July
  • Living costs, travel and insurance are not covered — recipients must fund these themselves (Swedish Migration Agency maintenance requirement applies for the residence permit)
