Overview

Sciences Po's Émile Boutmy scholarship welcomes the best international students from outside the EU with major tuition exemptions — up to full tuition for undergraduates and EUR 18,500/year for Master's students. There is no separate scholarship application: you flag the Boutmy scholarship in the "Financial information" section of your Sciences Po admission application. Deadlines follow the admission tracks: 13 January 2027 for undergraduates from foreign secondary schools, and 18 October / 29 November 2026 for Master's applicants (two committees).

Why it is notable: The scholarship dies if you defer — "If you have been granted a scholarship and decide to defer your admission, your scholarship will be lost," and you can never apply for it again later. Accept the offer first and sort out deferral only after the grant decision.

  • Scholarship retained during the third-year year abroad (undergraduate programme).

Frequently asked questions

Is there a separate Boutmy application form?
No — applicants from foreign secondary schools and Master's candidates indicate the Boutmy scholarship in the "Financial information" section of their Sciences Po application. French secondary-school applicants contact the Admission Office via the online form after Parcoursup validation.
What are the deadlines?
Undergraduate (foreign secondary schools): 13 January 2027. Undergraduate (French secondary schools): 1 April 2027. Master's: 18 October (1st committee) or 29 November (2nd committee). No requests accepted after the deadline.
How much is the scholarship worth?
Undergraduate: total tuition exemption or EUR 9,500 exemption. Master's: EUR 18,500 tuition exemption per year for two years.
Can I combine it with other scholarships?
Not with other Sciences Po/partner scholarships (Mastercard, CARE, Fondation de France/René Seydoux, China Scholarship Council, etc.) — but it may be combined with external scholarships (Eiffel, AEFE, French government scholarships).
What happens if I defer my admission?
The scholarship is lost — and you cannot apply for it again later. Accept the offer while waiting for the decision; request a deferral only via the Student Services Centre after the grant decision if needed.
My parents live in the EU but I don't — am I eligible?
No — Sciences Po considers the parents' tax residence, not the student's. Students whose parents have EU tax residence cannot apply (unless eligible for documented financial independence).
Is it renewed for the Master's?
Yes — the Boutmy scholarship is automatically renewed if the student continues to Master's-level studies at Sciences Po in an eligible programme.
Can I apply during my studies at Sciences Po?
No — it is not possible to apply for the Émile Boutmy scholarship after admission or during studies; it is only for first-year entrants.
