Overview

The OAS and American University's Washington College of Law jointly offer a 50% tuition scholarship for citizens of OAS member states (except the United States) to pursue the LL.M. in International Human Rights and Humanitarian Law — the first hybrid-format human rights LL.M. of its kind in the US, also offered fully in Spanish. For Spring 2027, the admission + scholarship application deadline is November 1, 2026 for the onsite track and November 30, 2026 for the hybrid/online track.

Why it is notable: It is a standing OAS–university partnership most applicants never find because it is announced only in the OAS scholarships table and national-government bulletins, not on the law school's main admissions pages. The Spanish-language LL.M. track removes the English barrier entirely for Latin American lawyers, and the hybrid format lets recipients study largely from home — a rare combination for a US law degree.
